§ 01Overview

The brief, and how we answered it

A commuter ferry lives or dies on dwell time. The Coastal Transit Authority needed a boat that could swallow a rush-hour crowd, get underway, and do it again every twenty minutes without burning the schedule or the fuel budget.

We drew wide, low boarding gates on both sides and a clear, step-free main cabin so passengers flow on and off in seconds. The hull is tuned for an efficient displacement-to-planing cruise that holds schedule without chasing top-end speed.

Certified to Subchapter K for its passenger count, the ferry pairs commercial-grade durability with a comfortable, well-lit cabin — climate controlled, quiet, and easy to clean at the end of a long service day.

Challenges Solved

Dwell time was breaking the schedule

Slow, single-side boarding meant every stop ran long, and the delay compounded across a busy commuter route until the headway fell apart.

Fuel cost per passenger was too high

The route needed an efficient hull that could hold schedule without chasing top speed or burning through the operating budget.

§ 04The Outcome

Faster turnarounds across the whole route

Dual-side, step-free boarding cut dwell time at every stop, letting the authority hold a tighter headway with the same crew. Fuel burn per passenger-mile fell against the boat it replaced.
